Prince Harry arrives in London to see King Charles
Prince Harry arrived in London on Tuesday afternoon for a rare visit with his father, King Charles III.
Harry was seen arriving at the King’s Clarence House residence in a black SUV after an overnight trip from his home in Los Angeles, California.
Royal officials announced Monday that the 75-year-old monarch has been diagnosed with an unknown type of cancer and is receiving treatment as an outpatient. Less than 18 months into his decades-long assumption of power, Charles has suspended his public engagements, but will continue with state business and will not hand over his constitutional roles as head of state.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he, like many people, was “shocked and saddened” by the news, but said the king would “continue” with his constitutional duties.
“Many families across the country listening to this have been affected by the same thing and they know what it means to everyone,” Sunak said. “So we would love to have him on board and hopefully we can get through this as quickly as possible.”
There is a turbulent relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry, and Harry has not seen his father frequently since the prince left his royal duties in 2020 and moved to Los Angeles with his wife, Meghan.
