Las Vegas police have arrested a suspected getaway driver involved in the death of an innocent bystander
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Police arrested a teen last week accused of driving the car involved in the killing of an innocent bystander, records state.
Officers arrested Tishaan Tillman, 19, on January 30. Tillman initially faced charges, including open murder and conspiratorial murder, in Las Vegas Justice Court. Tillman was indicted by a Clark County grand jury on Friday, allowing prosecutors to proceed in district court.
Police arrested three other teenagers: Mesarius Finch, 17; Jonathan Perez Stubbs, 19; Kevin Perez Stubbs, 17; last year. Finch agreed to a plea deal late last year, although details of his plea agreement were kept secret. The Perez-Stubbs cases were merged with the Tillman case.
The shooting happened on April 23, 2023, in the South Valley, while Shawna McCowan, 43, was walking her dogs with her boyfriend.
Police allege Tillman was driving when Kevin Perez Stubbs shot McCowan, killing her, the documents said. Investigators said McCowan, who was visiting from Colorado, was not the intended target.
The documents stated that the shooting came after a previous fight between teenagers in a nearby apartment complex. One teen accused another of stealing his Ghost gun. Police said they later found the gun near the apartment building and matched it to the shooting of McCowan.
Police found evidence indicating that at least 16 shots had been fired. McCowan was the only person injured.
Police arrested Kevin Perez Stubbs in May. His name was not announced at that time due to his age. His brother and Finch were arrested in October, nearly five months later, 8 News Now first reported.
